BLYTHEVILLE, Ark.
Sept. 12, 2011
Ron Rasdon, a radiation therapist at Bethesda Cancer Center in Blytheville, Ark., has received the All Star Award for his ongoing dedication to treating patients like family.
The All Star Award program was introduced six years ago by Alliance Oncology, a division of Alliance HealthCare Services, Inc. (NYSE:AIQ). Alliance operates 36 radiation therapy centers across the United States, including Bethesda Cancer Center in Blytheville. This award is Alliance's most prestigious recognition and honors team members who are stellar examples of the company's values.
As an illustration of why Rasdon is so deserving, he arrived at work early every morning during the harsh winter to clear and salt the cancer center parking lot and sidewalks. "My mantra is, 'If it is to be, it's up to me,'" Rasdon says. "I didn't want any of our patients to slip and fall on the ice, so I made sure that was taken care of. For me, it's just about doing the right thing."
Rasdon also worked with local urologists to organize weekend prostate screenings that were highly successful, with an average of 50 men receiving a screening at each event. "Whether it's a cancer screening or a big hug or a few words of encouragement, I believe our small actions can make a huge difference in someone's life," Rasdon says.
Dr. Loverd Peacock, radiation oncologist at Bethesda Cancer Center, is proud of Rasdon's positive attitude. Peacock says, "Like all our team members, Ron is well-trained, compassionate and essential to our cancer center. Ron and his colleagues accomplish putting patients first by committing themselves to superior care."
Rasdon has worked with Alliance since 2002 and has served as a radiation therapist for more than a decade. He lives with his wife Susan in the Blytheville area and enjoys spending time with their two children and four grandsons.
